By the start of the third act of Verdi's "La Traviata" we find Violeta in a hospital dying of tuberculosis though the name of her illness is never directly mentioned through out the opera. It is at this point that Violeta has already spent most of her money and has even lost the lovely house she once lived in and is left with nothing but her faithful servant; who despite not being paid has not abandoned her. Violeta also has the good fortune in this, her last hour to still have Alfredo's love; who despite all that was between them...
