Last night, for David’s birthday, a group of our dearest friends gathered at Next Door Lounge in Hollywood for a simple get together. As usual whenever we are able to spend time with our friends, a great time was had by all. Not only were we blessed with great company but we were also treated to excellent food & drink along with top notch service from the folks at Next Door Lounge. I think I can speak for David when I say that we had one of the funnest nights out last night.

We managed to gather a nice group of friends who each let David know how much he means to them and for that, I love our friends dearly. I cannot express to you how lucky David and I are to have such amazing people in our lives. David was given a few gifts last night but truly, the best gift of all was that we got to hang out with our dear friends. Thank YOU all, too, very much for all your kind birthday messages for David. I can assure you, he is very grateful for all of your love ;)

Tonight … I have a date … with the laundry room. My dirty laundry has piled taller than me so … I have my work cut out for me. I hope your Wednesday is much more fun than mine looks to be ;) Happy Hump Day!!

Actor James Franco has just been announced as the new male celebrity spokesmodel for Gucci‘s new Made to Measure line of tailored clothing. This new Made to Measure line of menswear will be handmade in Italy and will consist of 82 textiles which, according to the just released press announcement, will allow for 178 possible combinations of colors and fabrics. But, I’m guessing, it’s the promo ad campaign that will be getting all of the attention. For the campaign, Franco was photographed in a 1940′s type setting. Yeah, I’m gonna guess that these made-to-order offerings will not be inexpensive … so … totally not my thing. But, I think James Franco looks great in these photos. While his wackiness can sometimes grate on my nerves, I think James is better seen than heard. In that regard, he will make a great spokesmodel for Gucci, I think. The man does look good in a suit, you gotta admit.

We began our marathon of musicals on Friday night by attending Rock Of Ages, a show that is going to be on Broadway for a long time!

It is the definition of a FEEL-GOOD show! Even the most jaded of theatergoers can't help but walk away from it with a smile on their face!

And, there's the big all-star cast film version coming out next year! So the whole world will be Rockin!

We first saw Rock Of Ages about 4 years ago in Los Angeles, in a production that starred our friends Laura Bell Bundy and Willam Belli, as well as the adorable Tom Lenk and awesome Dan Finnerty.

The show has come a long way since then! But the heart and soul - and rock! - of it remain the same.

And the current Broadway cast is fab!

Can't wait to see even more shows over the next week in New York!

Miss Venezuela Eva Ekvall Dead At 28

Miss Venezuela Eva Ekvall, lost her battle with breast cancer this past weekend. She was just 28. Eva Ekvall was a beautiful girl. She competed and won the 2000 Miss Venezuela contest, and was the runner up for Miss Universe in 2001. After passing on her crown she went on to act and work as a news anchor. In 2010, Ekvall was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began chronicling her life and wrote the book, Fuera de Foco (Out of Focus), which came out earlier this year. She was very realistic about what was going on, showing herself bald, and going through treatments. In an interview, she told the newspaper El Nacional, “I needed to send the message of the need for cancer prevention. I hate to see photos in which I come out ugly. But you know what? Nobody ever said cancer is pretty or that I should look like Miss Venezuela when I have cancer.” She relocated to Houston shortly after finding out she had cancer to undergo treatment. She was hopeful that she could overcome the cancer, but sadly, she lost the battle. She leaves behind her husband and her two year old daughter, Miranda Bermudez Ekval. [...]

So yesterday was our first (and only) full day here in Palm Springs, CA and while the temps were HOT as Hades, we managed to have a pretty fun time. Our friend Josh came out to Palm Springs for the weekend too so he hung out with us all day at the pool and all night at the club. The late night dancing options here in the desert are severly limited but we made the most of it. There was a lot of booze to keep the night well lubricated … ’twas fun, ’twas fun.

If you ever find yourself in Palm Springs and you’re lookin’ for a bitchin’ dance club, Toucan’s Tiki Lounge is NOT the place for you. But, because it’s like the only option, I guess you gotta make do. The DJ was pretty bad but he did, at least, play a few good songs. By the time the bachelorette party overtook the dancefloor (with huge inflatable penis in hand) it was time to bounce.

Late night desert turned into late night photobooth fun. We crashed out soon after and awoke today to, surprise, another scorching day! Because Carmageddon is ending early and the 405 highway is opening early back in LA, we’re leaving for home today. The weekend was fun but my guess is that Palm Springs is much more fun … in the Winter. I’m anxious to get back home … so, I’m out.
